Step 5.3 - How to access "Department Folders" on Citrix environment

Department folder is the place holder created for Developer to store the Workbooks, Extracts, Data Files, Images and other related content. In order to access your department folder on Citrix environment, you must have completed Install and Setup Citrix Receiver on your machine.   

1. Launch Citrix Receiver from your windows Start menu or by using Search box

2. Provide your credentials to connect and Click "Log On". Check "Remember my password" if you want to save your credentials for the next time use. 

3. You will see Citrix StoreFront home screen. Click on "Tableau File Explorer" icon.

 

4. It will launch "Tableau File Explorer"

5. Open "Tableau_Projects" folder

6. You should be able to see the department folders you are authorized to access. In this example, Developer has access to the following sample project "Department of Sales". In reality, Developer will have access to other folders that you actually use to store your Workbooks, Data Files, Extracts and Images etc.

7. Open "Department of Sales" to access sub folders.

8. Open "Superstore Analysis" and notice the sub folders 

9. Open "01 - Development" folder to find the workbook which is already stored.

Please note that,

"01 - Development" folder is the place holder to store all the Workbooks that are under development and also the Workbooks that are ready to publish or already published to Tableau Development Site on the Tableau Server.

"02 - QA" folder is the place holder to store all the Workbooks that are ready to publish or already published to Tableau QA Site on the Tableau Server.

"03 - Production" folder is the place holder to store all the Workbooks that are ready to publish or already published to Tableau Production Site on the Tableau Server.

10. Open "Utilities" folder to notice the sub folders.

11. The purpose of sub fodlers under "Utilities" is as follows:

Data Files: to store files (.csv, .xls, .pdf etc) that you are going to use for your development

Extracts: to store Tableau hyper extract files that you generate from the data sources

Images: to store external images that you are going to use in your development 

Shapes: to store external shapes that you are going to use in your development
